Narcotics Control Bureau has successfully identified two men who allegedly sold drugs to Rhea Chakraborty’s brother Showik Chakraborty.

On Wednesday, the NCB said it has found evidence to link him with drug peddlers. So far four individuals have been apprehended.

Rhea has always denied the charge that she consumed drugs and alleged that Sushant Singh Rajput used to do drugs.

The NCB had received official communication from the Enforcement Directorate, last week. “While probing the money laundering case in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case, the ED had found several WhatsApp chats of Rhea and her brother Showik. These chats revolved and centred around drug consumption, procurement, usage and transportation,” said a senior NCB official.

Last Wednesday, the NCB registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and started the preliminary investigation.

On the intervening night of 27th-28th August, NCB (Mumbai) arrested two alleged peddlers – Abbas Lakhani and Karn Arora and seized curated marijuana or bud. They peddled in drugs to finance their usage.

During the probe, it was found that Abbas had links with a Bandra resident Zaid Vilatra.

Last night, a team of NCB sleuths raided his premises and seized both Indian currency (Rs 9,55,750), foreign currency including US $ 2,081.

Sources say seized cash is part of payments received while selling contraband. During questioning, Zaid reportedly said that he owns an eatery in Bandra but his business tanked during the lockdown. “He claims that he deals with banned substances including bud and earned good money,” said an NCB official.

Speaking to Times Now, Zaid father denied all charges levelled by the NCB.

Zaid said his close associates is Basit Parihar. NCB has also placed Basit under arrest. “Basit has direct links with those named in the preliminary findings of the ED,” said a source.

Top sources say an analysis of Call Details of Records show that Zaid was in direct touch with Basit Parihar and Suryadeep Malhotra, who in turn was in touch with Showik.

On 17th March, Showik shared Zaid’s number with Sushant housekeeper Samuel Miranda and asked him to pay Rs 10,000 for five gram of bud.

Later Miranda contacted Zaid. NCB sources say CDR analysis also shows that Basit spoke to Zaid before Miranda spoke to him.

NCB sources say a call will soon be taken when to call Showik Chakraborty for questioning in this high profile case.
