Sushant Singh Rajput: CBI grills actor's CA and former accountant

There have been some new developments in the Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case since today (August 25) morning. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the CBI, who is staying at the DRDO facility in Mumbai, are grilling people connected with the case at the facility.

Sushant’s cook Neeraj Singh and his friend and flatmate Siddharth Pithani are being grilled yet again by the CBI officials. As per the sources, Neeraj and Siddharth have given contradictory statements to the investigating agency and hence the CBI has called them for another round of questioning.

Additionally, Sushant Singh Rajput’s CA Sandeep Shridhar is also being questioned by the CBI. This is a clear indicator that the CBI is looking at the financial angle as well. Sushant Singh Rajput’s father KK Singh had complained that around Rs 15 crore was siphoned off from his son’s account by Rhea Chakraborty. He also charged her for abetment to suicide.

In an earlier interview to India Today, CA Sandeep Shridhar had said that the late actor didn’t have the said amount in his bank as is being alleged to have been siphoned off. Along with Shridhar, the CBI has also called in Sushant’s former accountant Rajat Mewati.

Here are the developments that have taken place till noon at DRDO facility today:

9:02 am: Mumbai police enters DRDO. One Mumbai police officer in the car

9:38 am: A police vehicle with Bandra police officer leaves DRDO

9:40 am: Another vehicle enters with tinted glasses

9:42 am: A vehicle with a masked man rushes out

9:45 am: Sushant’s CA Sandeep Shridhar arrives

9:50 am: Sushant’s friend Siddharth Pithani enters DRDO facility

9:55 am: Another car enters DRDO

9:56 am: Sushant’s cook Neeraj Singh enters DRDO

10:35 am: Sushant’s former accountant Rajat Mewati reaches DRDO

CBI is yet to summon Rhea Chakraborty for questioning. Yesterday (August 24), Rhea Chakraborty’s lawyer Satish Maneshinde released a statement in which he clarified that the CBI hasn’t summoned Rhea or her family members yet but they “will appear as they did before Mumbai Police and Enforcement Directorate (ED) as law-abiding citizens. No speculations are (sic) necessary.”
